Formerly Inland Northwest Animal Sanctuary, better known as “Walk in the Wild Zoo,” Higher Ground Animal Sanctuary has been created from this resurrected 501(c)3 non-profit formed in 1965 - now catapulted into the 21st Century thanks to the vision of Board member Carol Snyder.
Our Logo depicts the image of a very popular artwork, based on the story, “The Bremen Town Musicians.” In the story a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster, all past their prime years in life and usefulness on their respective farms, were soon to be discarded or mistreated by their masters. One by one they leave their homes and set out together. They decide to go to Bremen, known for its freedom, to live without owners and become musicians there.
Higher Ground Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit with the mission to Rescue homeless animals or animals in need, offer a place of Refuge to peacefully live out their lives, and share our work and their stories to create opportunities for Humane Education - thus creating a greater rescue culture.
