The Meadery

Hierophant Meadery tasting room can be found on the Historic Green Bluff farming loop. The Green Bluff Direct Marketing Association is a group of farmers and farm based businesses who create opportunities for agritourism in this Eastern Washington group of farms & estates.

Other producers of fine crafted beverages such as Twilight Cidery, Big Barn Brewing, 238 Brewing, and Townshend Winery are neighbors to the meadery.

Our tasting room hours coincide with the growing season on the Bluff, with expanded hours in Summer and Fall. We are open year round for tasting, and are open most weekends or by appointment.

WHAT IS THE "HIEROPHANT?"

hi·er·o·phant. ˈhī(ə)rəˌfant.

(1) a person, especially a priest in ancient Greece, who interprets sacred mysteries or esoteric principles.

(2) A hierophant is a person who brings religious congregants into the presence of that which is deemed holy. The word comes from Ancient Greece, where it was constructed from the combination of ta hiera, "the holy," and phainein, "to show."

The Hierophant is generally described as "one who reveals/shows what is sacred or holy." We believe that the honey bee should be revered as such, as the declining honey bee population is most certainly revealing to us that change is needed in the way things are done in our food system.

We therefore depicted the honey bee as the Hierophant by adding a kabbalistic tree of life in our logo representation. This tree of life symbol is associated with the Hierophant.
